Content Creation Apprentice – Bristol City Centre

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Digital Services team at Bristol City Council. They are dedicated to building digital services that prioritise the needs of Bristol’s citizens, businesses and communities. As a Digital Content Administrator, you will play an essential role in supporting the User-Centred Design team and providing support to internal and external users in order to create a trusted digital experience for everyone. Working alongside Content and UX designers, you will make sure content remains current, relevant and aligns with their digital standards and that they answer all queries from stakeholders in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will cover a wide range of tasks, from uploading new material to improving existing content using the content management system (CMS). You’ll need a strong attention to details as well as good organisational skills to deal with queries coming from services within the councils or citizens.

You will learn:

  • Working with Content and UX Designers to upload to and edit content on different platforms, making sure web content and digital solutions meet council guidelines, style and accessibility standards before publication.
  • Helping manage the website and intranet inbox, triaging users’ requests as needed.
  • Conducting regular content audits to identify and make appropriate corrections.
  • Managing citizen and internal feedback, investigate issues and contact/stakeholders citizens for further information, flag common problems and refer issues to the relevant team.
  • Be a user of web related software and applications, such as content management systems and have some knowledge of web language such as HTML.
  • Editing simple online forms.
  • Managing out-of-date content, set up redirectors, fix broken links.
  • Supporting colleagues across the council with best practice regarding web content and applications.

Person specification

  • A keen interest in content design and web editing.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency in digital content.
  • Familiarity with basic HTML and CSS coding for minor website adjustments.
  • Ability to prioritise and provide constructive feedback and support to users
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrable knowledge and/or experience of equalities and diversity issues.

Content Creator Training

During this advanced apprenticeship, you will learn a vast range of knowledge, skills and behaviours, covering topics such as:

  • Audio and visual content
  • Content for social media
  • Copywriting and so much more.

You will undertake the ground-breaking Professional Apprenticeships Content Creator Level 3 qualification. Professional Apprenticeships are an Ofsted Outstanding rated training provider and hold the title of Bristol and Bath Apprenticeship Training Provider of the Year for 2021.

The training is delivered using a hybrid model and can be delivered fully remotely if needed. You will have monthly 1-2-1s with your assigned tutor, along with monthly group sessions, where one topic will be covered in detail, and you will have the opportunity to meet and work with all the other apprentices on the course.

  • Creating content for social media
  • Designing engaging posts
  • Managing content online
  • Evaluating and testing the effectiveness of content
