Job Description

This is an incredible opportunity to work for a fantastic local charity in Bristol. Jessie May supports terminally ill children and their families and In this exciting new role, you will be working within a small operations team with the aim of handling day-to-day tasks to ensure the organisation runs smoothly. This apprenticeship will provide you with valuable hands-on experience in a charitable setting, tackling challenges and taking on responsibility. You’ll need to be a great team player and communicator, with the motivation to get results and a positive mindset.

Responsibilities

  • To deliver excellent internal and external customer service in line with the Jessie May operations service level agreement
  • To assist in organising meetings, preparing documents, minute taking and coordinating office activities
  • Jessie May families: Ensure sensitive information is handled appropriately in communications.
  • Respond to supporter inquiries and provide excellent customer service to cultivate positive donor relationships
  • Produce timely and personalised thank you letters.
  • Work with the Head of Operations to develop volunteering pathways.
  • Work with the Operations team in devising new ways to streamline processes and make organisational efficiencies.
  • Support financial administration; produce orders, track spend, report and monitor
  • Support the Fundraising and Family support teams in the planning and implementation of family and supporter events.
  • Support the Data and Insights officer in prepare monthly reports and presentations on Jessie May activities
  • Support the Operations team with records management, ensuring that Jessie May remains compliant.

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • GCSE Maths and English at grade 4/C or higher

Training

During this advanced apprenticeship, you will learn a vast range of knowledge, skills and behaviours, covering topics such as project management, systems & processes, business structures and so much more.

You will undertake the ground-breaking Professional Apprenticeships Business Administrator Level 3 qualification. Professional Apprenticeships hold the title of Bristol and Bath Apprenticeship Training Provider of the Year for 2021. They also boast the highest Ofsted rating, which only a select few training providers in the region have.

The programme is designed to mould you into a high-level, all-rounded business professional. You will learn in detail about business communication, organisation, managing change, problem solving & much more.

For 26 years, Jessie May have been supporting terminally ill children and their families.

The Jessie May Trust was established by parents Chris and Philippa Purrington following the death of their baby daughter, Jessica May, in September 1994 and they as a charity provide specialist nursing care for terminally ill children in their own homes. They offer end of life care and bereavement support, as well as vital respite sessions and emotional support to those children’s families. This allows families to make the most of the precious time they have together and to create treasured family memories.

Over the last 26 years the charity has supported over 300 children and their families across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Bath & North East Somerset, and Swindon & Wiltshire.
